SouthernBiotech的Mycoplasma Detection Kit旨在專門檢測細胞培養中潛在的支原體污染。該試劑盒采用聚合酶鏈反應（PCR）技術來擴增支原體基因組內保守的16S rRNA編碼區域，從而提供了一種廣泛、高靈敏度且高效的檢測方法。精心設計的引物序列覆蓋了支原體目（Mycoplasma、Acholeplasma和Ureaplasma）的三個屬，使試劑盒能夠檢測超過95%的潛在細胞培養感染。

支原體檢測試劑盒中的PCR技術快速（結果通常在不到3小時內獲得）且易于使用。該試劑盒還具有高度靈敏度，能夠檢測出測試樣本上清液中100 ?L內僅有2-5飛克的支原體DNA。試劑盒不會擴增來自細胞培養上清液的真核和細菌DNA。

被支原體感染的樣本細胞系將在瓊脂糖凝膠上產生一個大約448 bp至611 bp的PCR產物，具體大小取決于存在的支原體類型。試劑盒中包含一個陽性對照（M. orale, 503 bp），以驗證PCR擴增過程是否發生，以及確認測試樣本中獲得的PCR產物的大小。還提供了一個內部對照，以消除與PCR抑制劑相關的潛在假陰性。
